
COLONEL WANG ZHENGJIANG, DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF (CHINA)
Colonel Wang Zhengjiang, a Chinese national, was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff (CoS) for UNTSO on 18 February 2026. An Infantry Officer in the Chinese People's Liberation Army, he boasts over 20 years of military experience since his commission in 2003. He served as the Deputy Brigade Commander, a position he held from 2025 until his deployment to UNTSO. Prior to this, he worked as the Assistant Defence Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan from 2021 to 2025.
Colonel Wang has progressed through various command roles, including Battalion Commander from 2019 to 2021, Company Commander from 2009 to 2012, and Platoon Commander from 2004 to 2006, predominantly within the Xizang Military District. Additionally, he has extensive experience in staff positions, including Chief of G7 (Training and Force Development) and G4 Staff Officer (Logistics) within an infantry brigade. His experience with the United Nations includes serving as the UNTSO Chief Liaison Officer in Beirut from 2018 to 2019, and as the Chief G7 in UNAMID Sector South in Darfur, Sudan, from 2015 to 2016.
Colonel Wang holds a master’s degree in communication and information systems and has completed advanced training in command and staff leadership.
