Dear UNTSO and UNSCO colleagues and friends, Today, we gather in UNTSO Memorial Garden to commemorate two honorable events: The International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers – a day rooted in service and sacrifice and The 78 th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) on 29 May 1948 by the Security Council as the first United Nations peacekeeping mission.
